Publisher retiring after 33 years

Beginning June 1, the Davie County Enterprise Record and The Clemmons Courier's  editor and publisher of 33 years will step down. Dwight Sparks gave both small papers larger readership and the ability for greater covership of community events. 

Both papers grew and succeeded under his leadership, including being recipients of many North Carolina Press Association awards. 

The longtime editor had his start as a reporter at the Salisbury Post and continued climbing the ladder as he worked at several North Carolina newspapers such as the Winston-Salem Journal and The Madison Messenger. He has even delved into the magazine business, starting the bi-monthly publication called "Clemmons".

For the time being, his replacement hasn't been named.
