The Knight Science Journalism Program at MIT is pleased to announce that we are now accepting submissions for the second annual Victor K. McElheny Award for local and regional science journalism. The award will honor one outstanding work of journalism — print, digital, or broadcast — with a $5,000 prize. Submissions will be accepted through January 31, 2020.

We invite members of the North Carolina Press Association to enter any groundbreaking or impactful stories you may have published covering science, public-health, technology, or environmental issues. Entries may be standalone works or series, and must have been published during the 2019 calendar year. There is no entry fee. You can learn more about the award and the submission guidelines here.

The Victor K. McElheny award was made possible by the generous support of Victor K. McElheny and his wife, Ruth McElheny, and the Rita Allen Foundation.

Feel free to contact Ashley Smart if you have questions about the McElheny Award or KSJ.
