Focus turns to editorial contest
Wednesday was the deadline for entries in the 2012 Best Ad Contest. Now the attention switches to the 2012 News, Editorial & Photojournalism Contest. If you haven’t already downloaded the contest instructions and rules, you can go here. There are separate packets for Dailies and for Communities. The deadline to enter the editorial contest is Oct. 4. The price per entry went up this year to $9. So far we know of 10 members who have signed into the system. We suggest all members set up their accounts and get used to the system as soon as possible. If you have questions, remember you can check out Blogging on the Contest. To leave a question for the blog, submit a comment on one of the entries already in the blog.
NewsTrain headed our way
The APME NewsTrain is scheduled to make a stop at Chapel Hill on Oct. 19. This will be a full day of training on topics suggested by NCPA members including “How to Shoot Great Short Video” and “Beat Mapping.” The sessions will be in Carroll Hall, home of the UNC School of Journalism & Mass Communication. DNC keeping our Charlotte members busy
Today is the final day of the Democratic National Convention at Charlotte and our members have been working hard to cover the national event from a local perspective. Below are links to some of our papers to give you an idea of what their staffs have been doing.
Photos from ECU v. USC game will be available
Thanks to members of the South Carolina Press Association, game photographs from the East Carolina-South Carolina football game on Saturday will be available for free to NCPA members. Photos may be used in print and online, provided credit is given to the photographer. The photos should be available by 8 p.m. To obtain the photos, go to www.SCNewsExchange.com.
