HB 1115: Exempting data on minors in Wake Co.

This is a local bill expanding on the bad bill that passed over our objections two years ago under sponsorship from Rep Alice Bordsen. This expands on the old bill, which exempted kids names and addresses from the public records laws making city parks and recreation information open to the public.

This revision would exempt from the public record all identifying information on minors from all local government programs, not just park and rec programs.

In its current form, the bill only applies to the towns of Cary, Knightdale, Morrisville, Rolesville, Wake Forest, and Zebulon.

NCPA opposes this, and we are working with backers to try to win the compromises we could not get last time around.

Primary Sponsors: Rep. Tom Murry (R)-Morrisville; Rep. Nelson Dollar (R)-Cary; Rep. Darren Jackson (D)-Raleigh; and Rep. Marilyn Avila (R)-Raleigh.
