| Come celebrate the award-winning work of your advertising staff at the 2008 NCPA/NCPS Advertising Awards Banquet. The event is scheduled for Thursday, June 19, at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Raleigh. The reception begins at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m.
Join newspaper advertising professionals from across the state as they find out the winners of the 2008 NCPA Best Ad Contest. Hosted by NCPA President Tim Dearman, the event will honor all winners as well as the previously unannounced winners of the Best in Show Award and the Metro Plus Business Award. Also on the program is the presentation of the Fred D. Crisp Jr. Outstanding Sales Professional of the Year awards. In addition, a special presentation will be made to the 2008 recipient of the NCPA Friend of Print Award.
By June 9: For both the reception and banquet, the price is $55 per person. That includes two drink tickets. A cash bar also will be available.
After June 9: $65 per person. Checks should be made payable to North Carolina Press Association.
Final Deadline: June 13.
Each person should indicate his or her choice of entree on the registration form. The choices are:
- London Broil
-
Chicken Forestiere
- Vegetarian
This year we are offering reserved seating at the banquet for those newspapers or groups making a donation of $100 to the North Carolina Press Foundation. (This is similar to the reserved table program offered at this year’s Winter Institute.) Tables of 10 seats will be available for reservations. Reserved tables are located toward the front of the banquet hall. Don’t have 10 people? Some newspapers joined forces at Winter Institute to fill up their tables. It’s a good way to network with your colleagues. Open seats at reserved tables may be filled by other attendees.
In order to reserve a table, a separate check must be received by June 13, payable to the North Carolina Press Foundation in the amount of $100 per table. Do not add this amount to your registration check.
The awards banquet will be at the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel, located in downtown Raleigh. (Please don’t confuse this with the Sheraton Imperial at RTP.)
If you choose to spend the night, NCPA has a block of rooms available at a special rate of $129 (plus the usual taxes, etc.).
Hotel reservation deadline is 5 p.m. May 21. Call (800) 325-3535 and be sure to mention North Carolina Press Association to get the special rate. You can find out more details on the hotel by going to www.starwoodhotels.com.
Refunds of pre-paid conference fees, less a $25 processing fee, will be made for cancellations received at NCPA headquarters on or before Friday, June 13. NO REFUNDS ARE POSSIBLE AFTER THAT DATE, but you may send a substitute person. You will be responsible for paying unless NCPA is notified on or before June 13.
Sessions which have been a part of this event in the past have been moved to the Newspaper Academy on May 9. For details on the Academy, go to www.ncpress.com.
The price of parking is not included in the registration fee or the cost of a hotel room.
Hey, this is a classy affair. Guys should wear a coat and tie (along with all the traditional clothing items such as pants) while the women should do dresses, Hillary-style pant suits, or something along those lines. Board shorts and flip-flops should be avoided at all costs.
